Best Product For A Great Price - Natural Yoga Mat Review

By Tyler Jenkins

I give this three stars because although my hands and feet continue to slide, I guess that it helps me work a little harder to hold my poses firmer and longer and it is a very plush mat. I guess I need to scrub it down again!

So, go ahead and abuse it; the mat will last longer than your ability to hold Warrior 2. Can the mat be used for more than just yoga"

I just finished doing Shaun T's INSANITY Home workouts and this mat was AWESOME to do it on! I live in an apartment complex and it absorbed 90% of jumps this workout entails, then again it is PLYOMETRICS. I've washed it with mat cleaner several times, and tried a sea salt scrub. When I took this mat to class, I couldn't even hold warrior 1 without slipping all over the place. This mat is stable, it doesn't stretch or move beneath you while you are moving through vinyasa. Even without a Mysore rug, you would really have to drop a large amount of sweat for this mat to become too slippery to use.

Working out" I've never had a problem with slipping and it's super easy to clean/dry.

I don't sweat profusely, but when my hands and feet stay in contact with the mat, a little sweat develops. I've tried to clean the film off twice - the second time with a pretty heavy-duty cleaner (diluted) and scouring brush.

Anyway, the prep-work isn't too onerous, just annoying. I bought this mat about one month ago, and have used it about 6 times.

It makes a huge difference in your practice. Everything from a handstand to arm balances to shavasana feels better. I didn't like it very much; it slid around more (both on hard wood floors and carpet). I decided to get another Manduka and I'm thrilled to have one again. Love it and Save money here. Simply the best mat I have ever practiced on. I've been doing aggressive vinyasa flow level 2-3 yoga classes for three years now, and have gone through quite a few mats that start deteriorating quickly, slip when sweaty, and have little knee padding for some strenuous poses. I've been using the black 71" Manduka mat for about 3 months now, and although I still slip a little bit when sweaty, the dense padding is worth the extra carrying around weight of this mat, as is the extra wide width.

Well worth the price. I bought this mat about a year and a half ago and love it! Bottom line, it's got some heft to it but it's not non-transportable, as has been reported in some reviews. I'm all of 5'1" and average weight and didn't find it prohibitively heavy. This mat is TOUGH. I am quite sure that even if I greatly intensify my yoga practice in the near future, this mat will still last a solid ten years or more.
