Social Fitness - Key Information You Should Definitely be Aware of

Social media networks are getting quite popular nowadays. Facebook, with over 500 million members around the world, is undoubtedly the king of them all. Of course, the choice of celebrities and public figures is Twitter, a microblogging platform that allows their fans to follow their day-to-day, sometimes, even hour-by-hour activities.

When you change your status post, comment on your friend's post or like a video, note or picture, you feel a sense of belongingness to a community within your social media platform even if you do not even know some people personally.

In fact, Facebook and Twitter are just two of the reasons why businesses, celebrities and other political figures are reaping success in terms of profits and media mileage today more than before. Social media is a powerful force and is an avenue where you can make your message of fitness and health known throughout the world.

Before fully discussing how social media and fitness can blend well together, it's important to acknowledge that working out can be a solitary activity. Like many others who prefer exercising on their own, you do not need to be member of a group to be successful in your fitness program.

But for the inherently outgoing individual, exercising in a group setting is desired. The group camaraderie makes them less prone to quitting on their fitness program. Because they have a support group to motivate them, studies have shown that individuals reach their fitness goals in a shorter period of time than if they were to do it by themselves.

To make fitness social, you can use both traditional and new technological methods. By traditional is meant the good old way of inviting your friends, family or colleagues to join you for a walk or a jog. You will need to do a little convincing at first by telling them the benefits of exercise without sounding like a boring pedagogue. Be ready to answer questions but make sure that you underscore the importance of fun and camaraderie when you make your invites. If you're charismatic enough, your buddies will look forward to the next activity and soon, it will become a regular session with more and more newcomers invited by people in the group.

The second method uses technology brought on by the Internet. You can make your own blog about your fitness efforts. You can set up your own blog by following tutorials found online. Your online journal should be encouraging and heartening. If you are comfortable with putting up picture then by all means do so and always keep it updated with new posts. While you're at it, don't forget to create a Facebook page and a Twitter account where readers can follow what you are currently up to in your fitness program.

Making your fitness experience available to everyone will encourage people who are on the same boat as you. They will find inspiration in your story and though you may not know it, you become influential in making people healthier and fitter wherever they may be.
