How To Reduce Weight And Become Healthy

Many people today still do not understand how to reduce weight in a healthy manner. Crash diets, outrageous exercise plans, and magical pills are as numerous as those looking to improve their appearance and health. So why do we still have an obesity problem? There is no quick fix or magical cure.

Styles change and fads come and go, but tried and true always works. Diet and exercise programs have become a multimillion dollar industry. Why would anyone earning buckets of money want to end their own business by making it obsolete? Of course no one would. Sadly, this means keeping overweight individuals large and unhealthy, forever seeking the next miraculous cure all. This is exactly what most of these diet programs do.

A recent report from the American heart association reveals that more than a quarter of the earth's population is not only battling the bulge, but is in fact obese. That is at least twenty five percent of human beings who have at least twenty to thirty percent or more body fat than their body is equipped to handle. The greatest risk for a heart attack falls upon those who carry extra fat around the mid section.

Okay, so here is the truth. Those who told us calories do not matter, lied. Calories do and always did matter. Calories measure the amount of energy (food) that is needed in order to keep a person healthy. Anything over this amount that is not burned off through exercise will be stored as FAT! So, I can just quit eating until I am thin right? Absolutely NOT!

Starvation diets cause a person to destroy muscle, which is needed to maintain health and burn fat more quickly. A healthy program should consist of fat burning aerobic exercise. This will increase oxygen and metabolism, help to build muscle, and reduce stored fat.

Forget about diets! Choose a healthy, natural eating plan that includes many fruit and vegetable choices, less fat and carbohydrate, and no processed foods. Exercise! Do not worry about a specific exercise, just keep moving. This is what healthy folks know about how to reduce weight, be healthy, and feel fantastic.
